This Imperial IPA was brewed with our friends at Finback. We added a heavy dose of honey in the kettle and hopped this beer with all experimental hops.

Traded for this when it came out and finally had a chance to enjoy a full can tonight, after having a taste of it on the Other Half line and a pint of it up at the Cloverleaf. Finback's put out some great beers and their yeast strain was easily discernible. The name was quite fitting for this as the aroma was a bit offputting but the taste was subtly enjoyable as the alcohol was well-hidden and allowed for the flavors to quietly emerge as this warmed up.
The pour to this was a murky melon with a very thin head that held it's own. A good amount of lacing was left behind as that was the most pleasing aspect of this beer. Tons of dank melon and honeydew in the nose along with a good amount of garlic and scallions to go with it, almost to the point that this reminded me of freshly-rotting food waste from my supermarket-stocking days! Thankfully, the sweetness from the honey came through in the taste and saved this from being any more odd than the initial impression was. It gave this beer sweetness, slickness, and a bit of juice that made this somewhat enjoyable by the time it fully warmed up. A mild biscuit malt and relatively lively carbonation kept this from feeling too dank or heavy as there was a slight oily sheen that coated my mouth once this went down.
Amazingly, this didn't feel as if it had much of any alcohol in it. No overly boozy taste and only a faint warming sensation could be felt once I finished this off. This was one of those beers that figuratively and literally warmed up on me though I wish I had a head cold right about now! Once you get past the initial whiff, there was enough to like here as this beer carried the hallmarks of it's respective collaborators. It was just as odd as it's name!

On tap at Addams Tavern. I was really impressed with this. Pours a deep golden color with minimal head. The flavor is incredibly juicy and dangerously drinkable at 9.5%.

growler within an hour. it's murky golden yellow. smells like good weed and bad poo tutti frutti faint cracklin oat bran some whiffs of pineapple. feels nice good micro bubs real smoothed out by the honey. taste is too sweet though. long honey aftertaste and that telltale magnify taste wrestle for parting words. it smelled more like reefer at the brewery.
