Dr. Citra is a twist on our beloved Dr 'Saic. We swapped Mosaic hops for Citra in this beer. Brewed with oats and hopped significantly and exclusively with Citra, you know exactly what to expect.

7/26/18...full on haze and cloudy yellow, looks gelatinous. Cap of white foam on top . Heavy lemon citrus nose. Taste is a sharp lemon pepper malt. Heavy balanced bitter. Mellow mouthfeel. Delicious.

L - pours a light, golden yellow impenetrable haze. Heads leaves some surprising legs.
S - crisp and dank. Spicy, zesty, bready orange peel and lemon. Teeny tiny bit of buttery sweetness.
T - not as fruity as I would've imagined. Herbal and piney, lots of grassy bitterness. The dank, grapey flavors clash with the floral grass to the point where I'm getting a slightly sour sensation. Not terrible, but not great. Pithy without remorse. Incredibly drying lemon.
F - medium light, gentle foaminess that starts to perk its ears up as the sip goes down. Creates a hollow passage for all that bitterness!
O - hm, I love Magnify, but this is just okay. Some strange clashy flavors and unbalanced bitterness. The 'saic is where it's at and where it should stay.

Interesting concept as the hops were switched out in this one with the end result not being terribly different from the original. Seemed like there was more melon in this one as the beer looked, felt, and tasted, quite dry and light, though it was very lively throughout my time with this. While not your typical beer with Citra, there was still plenty to enjoy here from start to finish!
The pour to this was very light in hue as it looked like melon rind. Dank and cloudy, the head framed it nicely though the foam settled quickly and didn't stick around in the form of lacing on the side of my pint glass. Melon, sour grass, and citrus pith were all to be found in the less-than-robust nose though they came out more in the taste. Chalky and with a good amount of carbonation, nothing lingered for too long except for the grapefruit in the aftertaste. The oats gave this body and bit to proverbially and physically chew on, as the Citra came through in the aftertaste. A nice slickness coated my mouth once this went down, but a hint of onion spice didn't quite seem to mesh with that, or anything else present here...
Thankfully, the alcoholic content was quite low as the flavors didn't get overwhelmed by that. While not a great beer, I like the idea behind this as a variation on a common theme of Magnify. Maybe a few other hops deserve to have their turn, as they might complement the Oats better. What's there to lose?

L-Pours light yellow, very hazy, opaque.........2 finger fluffy head, moderate lacing that runs down the glass
S-tropical fruit and citrus hops........grapefruit, lemon, orange, passion fruit
T-Similar to the nose......lots of citrus.......grapefruit, orange, lemon.........a bit of peppery burn in the slightly bitter finish with a lingering grapefruit rind flavor
F-slightly less than medium, creamy.......carbonation is moderate..........feels bigger than the ABV
O-Enjoyable offering from Magnify that I would buy again

Really really enjoyed this one. Took me back to the first time I tried a Bissell while in Portland, ME in August of 2016. Had that classic NE IPA look, and was chock full of grapefruit and citra juiciness. Loved it.
