In collaboration with Barrier Brewing Company. This 8% Imperial IPA is hopped entirely with one of our favorite hop products - lupulin powder. Lupulin powder is a much more concentrated version of the hops we normally use and as a result, it infuses significantly more aromatic oils into the beer. We hopped it with Simcoe, Mosaic and Cascade powder in the kettle and both dry hops.

L - pours mostly clear with a haze not unlike Shenzhen on a good day. Papaya yellow orange with an oily head.

S - sticky candied orange and lemon pith. Dank and doughy with a sweet earthiness.

T - upfront flavor is a big, soft peach. There is an oasis of juice sandwiched between layers of sticky, dank, zesty, spicy, slightly piney grapefruit with a rindy breadiness. Dry and vaguely mealy due to the lupulin powder. Quite bitter in classic Barrier fashion.

F - soft and supple with a somewhat thick silky carbonation.

O - this is an interesting beer. On one hand it's just another kinda dank lupulin IPA, but the insanely juicy Tree House-esque peach pop has certainly got my attention. Makes you wanna keep sipping forever to keep true peach in play and the other flavors away.

One of two Magnify/Barrier collabs released on 9/8. I thought the nose was the highlight of this one. It took a pretty aggressive pour to generate about an inch worth of off-white head that faded into a nice ring around the glass with a little patch of suds on the surface. Translucent for the most part, maybe a modest amount of haze but there is definitely light getting through and can see the other side of the glass. Very nice cirtus/floral nose. Taste does not follow too closely though. As the beer warms the flavors come out a little more, grassy, piney, even a touch catty. The finish is a little more abrasive than I was expecting, the aftertaste makes me want to keep drinking. Pretty happy with this one. Not a great beer but it holds up well and I am happy to have a few more left in the fridge for later.

Reviewed two days after release. Poured from can into Magnify 2nd Anniversary can-shaped glass. It pours a hazy, golden-honey color with two fingers of fluffy, milk-white head and lacing with good retention. Not much of a nose on this one: I'm getting yeast and a touch of cracker with very subtle hops. Say what you want about Magnify, but it's DIPA's are seldom subtle; the tastes tend to be bold. With this one I can taste some Mosaic but beyond that it's mostly lemon peel and some biscuit. As the glass warmed a little, I noticed some sweetness at the finish that reminded me a little of graham cracker. It's crisp and refreshing with pleasant carbonation. The 8% ABV is fairly well masked and it goes down easily. Overall, I found that it grew on me as I drank it.
