Picked this up at Magnify when it was released, finally getting around to it today in advance of the snowstorm heading this way. Sure, I love beers that feature the Citra hop and while this wasn't bad, it was just a bit too one-dimensional for me to completely praise. The end result was a brew that was juicy, smooth, with just a bit too much of a burn for me to rate any higher...

Not a bad pour to this as the beer was a dark goldenrod with plenty of haze and just a bit of light seeping in around the edges. Plenty of long-lasting head topped this off as the rings of lacing were quite extensive and deep as they seeped down to the next one. Lots of citrus and tangerine in the nose with lemon, onion, and a grassy undertone to everything. Quite a bit of sediment settled at the bottom of my pint glass although that was probably my fault for taking so long to get to this! Slick and soft, this went down well and only left a bit of juicy orange and soft burn in the aftertaste as there was a faint sweetness to this that ended each sip quite nicely. A steady and understated carbonation kept this light as the malt was quite basic and recessed at the same time.

It was nearly impossible to feel the alcohol in this as a bit of warming took hold as I finished this off. While not a bad beer, this needed just a bit more to it to be outstanding. Fans of Magnify will enjoy this and will be glad that a DDH version became available. As for me, it was canned juice that felt like a relaxing brew when all was said and done!

Can is about two weeks old. A nice deep and hazy orange with modest head that faded away in short order leaving behind nice lacing on the glass. The citra hops are pungent here, very sweet and citrusy, a little dank and a nice floral hint. The taste is a little on the sweet side for my liking but it is a delicious beer, nice hoppy bite, juicy. The booze is well hidden as it is a DIPA but I couldn't tell from the flavor. Some nice citrus notes, and an enjoyable level of bitterness. Carbonation is on the lighter side but mouthfeel is full. I like to think I'm not overdoing it here for a local brewery but, this is really a great all around beer. Hoping to share with some friends for their impressions.

I had this on draught at the brewery on its release date. It pours a pretty, cloudy golden color with a finger of fluffy, bright white head and lacing. The nose is rather one dimensional, featuring lemon and Citra hops. The taste, however, is a different story with lemon, light cracker, and a hint of caramel, and light Citra hops without bitterness. All of the flavors are delicate and there is no discernible bitterness at the finish. This ale has a really nice mouth feel: creamy and pillowy with moderate carbonation. It's 8% ABV gives it substance but doesn't distract from the flavors. Overall, I enjoyed the "Rock Me" version of Dr. Citra more than the original. It offers lots of flavor but isn't overbearing. Just a well-executed DIPA.
