Double Dry Hopped Half Batch DIPA. This 8% DIPA is hopped intensely with Hallertau Blanc, Centennial and Chinook. The first time we brewed this beer, we brewed a half batch to experiment but we liked it so much we now brew a full batch.

This was yet another beer that I picked up from Magnify and took a while to get around to, but finally got around to tonight as I whittle my way through my stash. If there was a beer that was typical of what Magnify was releasing recently, this might be it. While it's not bad and easily enjoyable, there wasn't anything outstanding about this as it just down the hatch sip by sip.
The pour to this was typical for a beer of this type - cloudy, goldenrod, and with just a bit of sediment in it (though that's probably because of me). A bit of light seeped in around the edge and there was more than enough head to top this off. Just a bit of lacing collared the liquid off and there were small patches of it down the side of my pint glass as I worked my way through this. A bit of German wheat could be detected in the nose from the Hallertau Blanc along with the more dank and familiar bitter notes from the Centennial and Chinook. Skunky weed, earthy forest, and citrus pith could be found in the nose and taste as this had the undertone of morning dew with grass, to go along with a bit of onion and feet (yes, I said it!). A good, deep citrus slickness tied everything in together but this was just a bit too heavy in the taste for this to be fully savored, as the carbonation was light and the malt was basic and recessed.
Thankfully, the amount of alcohol here was spot-on as a soft warming effect took hold on me by the time I finished this off, but the presence of it wasn't enough to detract from the odd array of flavors. If you like Magnify's other offerings, you won't be let down here but this didn't break any new ground, at the same time. Worth a go once for something heavy, full, and slick on the palate while being solidly craft at the same time...
