Maxed out is a 10% Quadruple Dry Hopped Triple IPA. We are currently finishing up an expansion (Oct. 2017) where we added a few more tanks and added a few more people to our small team. Our humble brewery is now maxed out - we are making as much beer as we possibly can. To celebrate, we wanted to make a beer that was totally maxed out in every way. For this Triple IPA we maxed out the mash tun to clock it in at 10%. We hit this beer with Simcoe lupulin powder, Mosaic and Summit in the kettle and 4 ludicrous dry hops of Mosaic, Ella, Chinook, Simcoe and Simcoe lupulin powder. Maxed Out contains significantly more hops per barrel than we've ever put in a beer. The result is sheer insanity.

Picked up this beer a while ago at Magnify, finally getting around to it tonight as I attempt to whittle down my massive stash here. Love this saying as everyone at Other Half yells it out when someone buys a full order on a particular day, but in this case, it refers to Magnify's expansion. What better brew to celebrate it with than something full of hops and hop flavor?
Love IPA's from this neck of the woods? This beer had that appearance to it as it was cloudy, a bit muddled, macaroni-hued, and topped off with plenty of fluffy head that took a while to settle down. Most of the lacing was on the bottom half of my pint glass and this had quite a variation in the nose as there were a lot of notes to be discerned. Lots of funk from the Mosaic, grass and dew from the Summit, potency from the Simcoe, and an overriding smoothness from the lupulin powder combined to make this heavy and bitter but the metallic and citrus notes were not as heavy as they could have been. Some yeast and sediment could be seen on the bottom of the liquid as I poured this out but that was more because of me than the way this beer was brewed! This was dry-hoped but the impression I got was of a way day in the forest with plenty of earthy funk and dripping dew combining to pull me in, even though this was not a fast or smooth sipper.
To be sure, there was plenty of booze here and I could feel it kick in well before I finished this off. Quite a range of hops here with the end result being a brew that was maxed out in nearly every way possible. Not my favorite from Magnify but a worthy effort that begs to savored and enjoyed over a long session. Enough carbonation and powder kept this from being too heavy but there's enough here to chew on and love in the end, for those who aren't just pure hopheads!

I have to admit, when I saw "quadruple dry hopped" I thought to myself, "ok, this is getting a little out of hand". Happily, I was wrong. This beer is magnificent. From the look, smell, taste it's all on point. Really hoping Magnify brews this triumph again.
