A; murky hazy pale orange and copper color

S: candies apricot, grapefruit, mango, onion, caramel, and a hint of pineapple

T: candied apricot, dried mango, caramel, sticky sugar, and grapefruit

M: medium sticky mouthfeel with slow carbonation

O: hits many of the notes you look for in an Imperial IPA. Sweet, touch of hops, but this has a kick of bitterness

This was yet another beer from Magnify that was part of my stash that I'm working my way through on this cold and windy day. When I saw the name of this, I was hoping that it would be thick and dark like gravy and go well with Thanksgiving dinner but instead, this was an underwhelming beer from them that felt a lot like other offerings that I've recently had from them.

This had a murky pour to it, with a dark and muted gold look to the liquid, with plenty of head to top it off. Not a lot of lacing was left behind either, as there were just a few spotty clumps near the top of my pint glass. Lot of acrid citrus and onion notes in the muted nose, with some dank hops and grass thrown in for good measure as well. The taste had much of the citrus in it as it was quite juicy and slick but the heavier notes weighed that down a bit. Not a lot of carbonation here and the malt was recessed as well and with only a bit of sediment at the bottom of the liquid, the flavors and hops were allowed to come forth; even though they could have been a bit more appealing.

Not a lot of perceived booze here as a mild warming effect took hold once I finished this off. The Mosaic and Amarillo stood out to me here and because they're so common, this beer came across as familiar in taste and feel. A bit too sticky and heavy to me, it was worth a go once but never felt like an Imperial, or even like gravy for that matter. This will suffice for any fans of Magnify looking for one of their more typical offerings...

Canned on 11/20/2018. Poured into Magnify stemless glass. It pours a turbid, dirty golden color with a fluffy, eggshell-colored cap and a thick coating of creamy lacing. It's dank nose features onion, lemon, resinous pine, and floral hops. The taste opens with a blast of tart, bitter lemon peel, grapefruit rind, and onion with lots of pine needles. However, as the glass warms there is a hint of vanilla that takes a little off the bitter edge. The bill of Mosaic, Nelson, Ella, and Simcoe hops are flavorful but bite hard. It's tangy with a touch of pepper at the finish. It leaves a very bitter after taste. This ale is full-bodied with significant carbonation and I think it drinks above its 8% ABV. Overall, this is a big DIPA for 8%. Drink it slowly as the flavors develop and balance as it warms.

11/25/17...pours a thick solid mustard yellow. Citrus nose, Sharp bitter bursts through and closes with a juicy hop. Very fruity around, and a persistent bitter. Complex blend and quite good.
