Frosted Flakes is a new 8% DIPA and the next iteration of our Breakfast Double IPA series. This beer is brewed with lots of oats, vanilla and lactose to taste like a bowl of our favorite breakfast cereal. We dry hopped this beer endlessly with Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo.

A: pours a hazy, straw yellow body with a thick white head with excellent retention and lacing.
S: pretty dank, hoppy notes, subtle
T: tastes like Frosted Flakes. Vanilla comes out in the taste to balance the bitterness of the hopes, which isn’t too overpowering. Impressive taste combination.
M: medium bodied and very smooth
O: pretty solid beer; pretty crisp for a double IPA. Definitely more than just a breakfast drink!

Cereal beer! This brew pours unsurprisingly rather hazy. 7.7 on the Haze-o-meter™. Color of the beer is a washed out orange. Thicker, foamy, sudsy head. Consistent lacing. Aroma is of pungent Citra & Mosaic. Also clearly heavy on the lactose. Vanilla beans, too. These beers can be off-putting pretty easily but this one smells alright. Nothing seems too out of whack. Really, really juicy flavor. I think they dialed in the lactose correctly. Not too much of that strange tang. The juicy Citra & Mosaic & Amarillo hops dominate. All the fruits that come with those hop show themselves. The finish, after the dust settles, and the hops relax a bit, is all about vanilla bean. Creamy oats and lactose hangs on the breath. I sorta get that Frosted Flakes™ flavor on my lips afterwards. Sweet grains covered in powdered sugar. Booze is well masked. The bitterness is expectedly mild. Not too milky. That's a biggie for me. I can only tolerate so much of that Half n' Half™ flavor and feel. One would expect this to be pure OrangeMilk™. It's leaner than expectation, which I enjoy. This beer is less gimmicky than the name implies. It's actually pretty legit.

9/22/19...pours hazy still blackened bronze. Very little foam sits on top. Cereal nose, like....frosted flakes. Hints of citrus mixed in there too. Sweet milky vanilla taste, stiff bitter background. Lightly sugary. Very stiff bitter. Interesting?

With a name like Frosted Flakes, who wouldn't get excited over something like this? I was and although this beer wasn't a letdown, it could have used just a bit more vanilla and lactose to take it to the next level. On it's own, this was quite enjoyable as the sweetness of it made it stand out from Magnify's other offerings. There was just a bit too much dankness in this to make it completely enjoyable, though I had fun savoring something that was just a bit different than what I was accustomed to...
Not a bad pour to this although it could have been a bit brighter as the liquid was a turbid goldenrod with enough head to top it off. Most of the lacing was around the collar with a few scattered hints of a ring or two around the middle of my pint glass as I worked my way through this. Lots of lactose, sugar, and vanilla in the nose to go along with the dank weed and dew of the Mosaic (guessing) hops that emanated out from the liquid. The sweetness that was inherent in this really came through in the taste but the dank, dewy mouthfeel pulled this down a bit and kept it from being truly lighthearted and joyous. The sweetness and bitterness clashed too much, which was what held this beer back from being truly wonderful and delightful in a land of hop bombs and hazy juice fests...
At least the alcohol wasn't that strong but it should have been a bit more recessed to let the grain, sugar, and milk fully emerge. If you like breakfast cereals that awaited you on the table when you came downstairs as a kid, you might enjoy this. For the imbiber like me, this was a welcome diversion but so tragic at the same time as it could have been *so* much more and truly great had it been brewed a bit differently. Give this a go once but shed a tear knowing that Tony the Tiger would never consider this to be gggrrreeeaatt!

Very hazy pineapple color with a foamy off-white head. Dank citrus hop notes on the nose (Mosaic anyone?) with a hint of vanilla.
The vanilla and lactose are much more pronounced on the taste, and the citrus flavors are present, too, I just wish they shared the spotlight a bit more.
The mouthfeel is crisp and substantial. I don’t know if this reminds me of Frosted Flakes (in my top 3 favorite cereals), but it’s a very nice spin on a DIPA.
