Fuel the Fire is an 8.5% Imperial IPA brewed in collaboration with Aslin Beer Co., Civil Society, Dancing Gnome, and Finback. After traveling a lot over the last year and meeting so many talented brewers, it was great to gather some of our favorites at our brewery to collaborate on this monster Imperial IPA. Our collective love of hops is on full display in this beer. We used Idaho 7 and Mosaic lupulin powder in the whirlpool and dry hopped this beer four separate times with Nelson Sauvin, Ekuanot, Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Mosaic and Simcoe lupulin powder.

I can't even remember if I got this at the brewery or traded for it but this was hidden away in my stash and I thought that I had gone through and reviewed all of the Magnify's that I had in my backlog. If this is the last one that I'll have for quite some time, it was ordinary at best and a bit disappointing given how many hands were involved in it's creation...
Not a bad look to this beer as I poured it out even though this was what I expected. A murky, muddled golden hue was topped off by plenty of head that lingered for a while as most of the lacing was concentrated around a thin and rocky collar at the top of my pint glass. Onion, scallions, and garlic were prevalent in the nose and felt stronger in the taste. A bit of earthiness, grass, and dare I say - bacon (!) could be found in the taste as the flavor profile of this was quite odd. The hops were smooth, but almost *too* plentiful, as it was tough to pick one out over the others as the liquid hit my palate. Some tropical and exotic fruit and orange cream stood out to me but they weren't strong and weren't enough to save this beer from being a smooth, but complicated, mess that went down nicely but left an odd aftertaste; in spite of the rounded mouthfeel that had a nice body to it.
There was enough booze here but I spent too much time attempting to figure this out to even notice the subtle warming that took hold of me well before I finished this off. If spice and cabbage are your thing, you'll love this brew but for me, this was an oddity that I couldn't quite get accustomed to. Not a bad beer but not the best either, which only shows that too many cooks do indeed spoil the proverbial broth...

L - Damn, hell of a lineup. Digging the Charizard holographic label. Pours that hazy orange we all know and love. A bit dark, a bit brooding. Oily head.
S - lemon and orange pith. Grapefruit rind. Nutty. Some onions in there as well.
T - Spicy and resiny. Scallions and grapefruit peel. Mosaic doughiness and a touch of Nelson elegance. Raw peach pith and super old bananas, but that one's faint.
F - Low carbonation, but a bit airy and fizzy. Like flat-ish soda, but still with a thick, full body.
O - Enjoyable beer, but nothing wows me. The onions are a touch aggressive and tend to mute the other flavors. It's leagues ahead of most stuff, but doesn't compete with other Magnify and NE greats.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Part of a trade with my friend Jeffmart22. Thanks!
The beer pours a hazy orange to gold color with a fluffy bleached white head of 2 cm foaming up even with a gentle pour.
THe foam settles slowly during the sampling, but remains a sturdy surface layer.
The aroma is rich and complex with hop heavy notes. I get mango and peach hits with some resiny pine sap and a bit of onion mixed in for good measure. No alcohol presence here but maybe a little biscuity malt in the background as the beer warms up a little.
The first sip reveals an average body with fine fizzy carbonation that tingles across my palate.
Flavor is what I would expect from the aroma. Just a hint of biscuit malt up front, this moves to all hops with peach and mango, a bit of white grape and some resiny pine sap. I get a little rindy bitterness on the finish and some cracker malt slips in too. The alcohol is hidden throughout.
A solid DIPA, which is a little complicated on the hop profile in the flavor and nose. Glad I got a chance to try this one, not sure it will swing back around due to the collab nature of the brew.

Pours cloudy gold color that leans towards brown with a solid 2 finger foamy off white head that faded slowly and left really impressive foamy spider web lacing and rings as it went down.
Smells like fresh kind bud and dank piney hops up front, followed by skunk weed, dry floral hops, grass, wet floral hops, lemon zest, mango, mild spices and then more fresh moist cannibus.
Tastes just as good as it smells with the same list as above in the nose, but it had more juicy citrus flavors as well as tropical fruits. No trace of the ABV, it's all hoppy goodness and smooth as silk as it went down. An excellent collaboration, there was so much flavor that it was confusing but I liked how it was very floral with a lot of weed-like qualities.

Many thanks to SammyJaxxxx for this can.
A - Medium gold/tan hazy/opaque color with creamy, dense lacing.
S - Some spicy garlic/onion character with light citrus.
T - Vinous with moderate spicy garlic and onion from start to finish with a spicy lingering bitterness along with some lemon.
M - Medium body with light heat.
O - Really love the onion spice in this beer which everyone seems to hate.

L-Opaque, hazy golden hue.........1 finger head, thick lacing...moderate retention on the lacing as it slides down the glass but the head itself is hanging around
S-This beer smells great......lots of tropical fruits similar to a stick of juicy fruit.........orange, mango, pineapple, some apricot nectar.......some sweet malts mixed in as well
T-starts similar to the nose with the tropical hops........hoppy resins on the back end that gives off a slight dankness and mild pine...........slight peppery burn in the throat on the finish
F-Carb is mild........feel is creamy smooth........body is slightly less than medium
O-typical Magnify hoppy Imperial IPA........solid, tasty

I don’t know why I keep giving magnify my money and receive poor and untasty beer. This beer looks decent however the taste is awful. Very disappointing for a collab with great breweries. This one wasn’t worth the money. As crazy as this sounds they are drain pours. Wish magnify can refund us for awful beer.
