Buzz Words is an 8% Imperial IPA brewed with honey. We sourced local honey from Jean’s Honey in Flemington, NJ, which adds complexity and earthiness to this beer. We dry hopped it with Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Calypso.

Reviewed two days after release. Poured from 16 oz. bottle into Magnify pint glass. It pours a semi-opaque, golden-orange color with almost a finger of foamy, bright white head with excellent retention, and a sheen of soapy lacing. The nose features lemon peel, grapefruit, onion, and floral hops, with a faint but discernible whiff of honey. It starts out drinking like an IPA with bitter citrus and flavorful Simcoe, Idaho 7, and Calypso hops. Then, you can taste the honey, initially on the tip of the tongue but then washing over the palate. It's subtle but you can definitely taste it. It mellows the underlying IPA and it becomes more noticeable as the glass warms. This ale has a fairly creamy mouth feel with pleasant carbonation, and the 8% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, what I like about Buzz Words is that it's not overly sweet. You can taste the honey but it compliments - not overwhelms - the tasty blend of hops. Magnify's done a nice job with this offering.
