Cryo Me a River is an 8% Imperial IPA. This beer was brewed with 80% cryo hops. Cryo hops are lupulin powder that the supplier pelletizes because pellets are much easier to use than powder. It’s still the same super potent hop product we know and love. For this beer we used Simcoe and Cascade cryo in the whirlpool and dry hopped it with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe Cryo, Centennial hop hash and Jarrylo pellets.

L - pours a mostly hazy orange murk. Shiny, soapy head that sounds like pop rocks.
S - very potent, almost acidic orange peel herbaceousness. Dry lemon pith and some sweet candied melon.
T - laser sharp bitter lupulin punch. Gritty and acidic. Bright tropical flavors start to peek through like sun through clouds. Peach pith, crabgrass, and orange juice. Finish is dry, herbal, and leaves that feeling in the back of your throat.
F - light on the tongue, yet follows through with a nice creaminess.
O - might just be my bias speaking, but this definitely feels "cooler", one might say "cryogenic". In reality, that coolness is grass and earthy lupulin bitterness. Interesting balance between all out herbal dryness and fruit flavors. Tasty.

On draught at the brewery. It pours an opaque, murky orange-brown color with a thin, milk-white head and lacing. I suspect the pour would look better from the can. It has a nice fruity bouquet of tangerine, lemon, mango, onion, and floral hops. The taste opens with lots of fruit: tangerine and tropical fruit notes, along with oats, lactose, and really mild hops without much bitterness. The taste is soft and mellow. As the glass warms there is a slight peppery astringency at the finish. I'm not familiar with Cryo hops so the hop profile is a bit hard to assess. It does have a nicely balanced flavor. This ale is medium-bodied with moderate, pleasant carbonation. The 8% ABV gives it character but it's not overly boozy. Overall, Cry Me a River does a lot of things well but nothing extraordinary. I'm glad to be introduced to Cryo hops. It's simply another solid DIPA from the always adventuresome Magnify.

Really good beer. The smell doesn't grab you as much as some of their other beers. The look is cloudy yellow with white lacing that dissipates quickly. The taste is smooth, each sip with a slightly different characteristic but then quickly mellows out. The feel is really clean, which I'm a huge fan of. I went up for another release and there were some cans of this left. After talking to some people I ended up getting a case. Glad I did. This is a really good beer.
