Accidental Text on Purpose is a double dry-hopped IPA with lactose based off of Accidentally on Purpose IPA. We scaled up the recipe to make an 8% Imperial IPA hopped to the extreme with Nelson and Motueka. We added lactose for that big mouthfeel and creamy body.

Poured a cloudy yellow body with minimal head and lace patches. Sharp, slightly bitter acidic aroma for a beer that is real smooth, light, balances sweetness and bitterness with a juicy fullness at times and even a tropical fruit finish.

L-Light straw colored brew..........1/4 inch white fluffy head that settles into a white cap rather quickly......hazy, cloudy.........lacing is moderately thick

S-Fruity......Tropical papaya, pineapple, peach, ripe melon, some lemon / lime zest.......slight vanilla sugar from the lactose.......

T-Follows the nose but the sweet tropical fruit is more subdue and the citrus is more prominent.....a bit of a balance between the two with the nose was more fruity than citrus.........some mild peppery notes........slight bitter finish

F-more sparkling than creamy.......carb is slightly above moderate.......less than medium body......finish is dry

O-ABV is well hidden..........very drinkable........Good brew but the bar is so high for this style that this is one of many drinkable brews but not outstanding.........wouldn't turn it down wouldn't make a special trip to buy it again......solid brew

On draught at the brewery. 14 oz. pour. It's an opaque gold with brown hues and a half finger of of milk which head with good retention and elegant lacing. The nose is really subdued; just a whiff of lemon and lactose. The taste is equal measure tart grapefruit and lemon and sweet lactose, and the blend of Motueka and Nelson hops is bold and flavorful but with virtually no hop bitterness. There is some pepper and a touch of yeast burn at the finish. I really like the mouth feel: it's thick and creamy, with moderate carbonation, and a punch 8% ABV that gives it character. Overall, this is a typical Magnify DIPA: it's not perfect but it's fun to drink. It features a nice balance of bitter citrus and sweet lactose; and you can't go wrong with Motueka and Nelson hops!
