New Car Smell is a new 6.7% DDH IPA. We just got the first shipment from our first ever Nelson Sauvin hop contract. To celebrate we decided to take this year’s crop of Nelson for a test drive with this double dry hopped IPA. Brewed with massive amounts of Nelson and a touch of Simcoe and Calypso.

A sorta burnt orange color, pretty hazy, and a sudsy off-white head. Dank hops yield a garlic aroma as well spicy tropical fruits.
The garlic isn’t as forward on the taste, and the tropical fruit flavors shine through. A really nice offering by Magnify.

The name of the is beer for me, is an off-putting sounding. New Car Smell, I do not care for the smell of new cars. Chemical aroma with plastics and rubber no thank you. The label states "DDH" this is a distinct style of IPA. The beer is 45 degrees and served in a pint glass. The gentle pour of the beer produced a two finger bright white head. The head is creamy and foamy with fair retention. The head left nothing on the glass as it dissipated. The beer's color is SRM 4 yellow straw with golden hues. The clarity of the beer is a touch hazy.
The initial aromas of the beer are pine and grapefruit. Additional aromas are toasted malt, floral esters, bready, and yeast.
The initial flavors of the beer are pine resin oil, herbal, grassy and grapefruit. Additional flavors are toasted malt, floral esters, bready, and a touch of honey.
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and slick.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-high carbonation, and full finish.
The beer has these interesting flavors in the beer. I am not sure what I think of this beer. The beer has this slick mouthfeel like oil in the beer. The more I drink this beer I particularly do not care for it. The beer has a strong malt backbone and intriguing combination of hops. The IPA is different from other IPA's I have tried.
