Read Receipts is a collaboration with our friends at Barreled Souls Brewing Company. We’ve all been there - when Read Receipts are turned on and your friend, girlfriend or husband won’t text you back but it says that they did, in fact, read your text. Is there anything more frustrating than that?

I opened the can and poured the beer into a pint glass. The reddish hue coming out of the can produce a pinkish head. The beer is 40 degrees. The head is airy and foamy with poor retention. The head dissipated quickly leaving nothing on the glass. The scarlet color of the beer is murky. A vast amount of effervescent is visible on the sides of the glass.
The initial aroma I got from the beer is a sourness and hops. Toasted malts, tropical, oranges, and a touch of pine. The background of the beer I smell crackers and floral.
Oranges, floral, tart berries, floral, and tropical are what I taste first. Next, dank, vanilla, crackers, and tropical creep over the taste buds.
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent, tart, and dry.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-high carbonation, and a medium finish.
I am left perplexed by this beer. Is this beer an IPA or sour. The beer is not seamlessly blended the two together. There is not a lot of harmony or balance in the beer. I was hoping for more than what I got. Good beer has the potential for more.

Dead ringer for Omnipollo Pleroma - grabbed a Crowler from Clayton Liquors in NJ.
L - Deep, vibrant red with a clean white head that dissipates quickly.
S - Fresh raspberries and vanilla
T - Sharp and sour raspberry with some vanilla and cream on the back end. Lingers nicely.
F - Low carbonation and smoothed out with the addition of lactose. Not overly sour, goes down easy. I could have more than one but not drink all night.
O - As I mentioned a dead ringer for Pleroma, which is a favorite sour of mine. Simple, vibrant, and well balanced.
