Collaboration with Mumford Brewing
Got Yo Coquito is a collaboration with our friends at Mumford Brewing Co in LA. We brewed a horchata themed milkshake with them last year in LA based off the Mexican drink and wanted to brew something along the same lines but a little different when they came to town. Got Yo Coquito is a Coquito inspired milkshake Imperial IPA based off the Puerto Rican drink. We brewed this beer with coconut, cinnamon, vanilla and lactose.

9/29/21...hazy dark gold with white foam. Sits still. Milky sweet nose, hints of coconut. Taste is a super sharp open that spills into a vanilla milky close. A harsh cinnamon back bitter washes through. Sweet then bitter. Repeat.

Tall and undated can, direct from the brewery a few days ago.
Hazed up NEIPA kinda pour, leaving a lasting cap and a load of quality looking lace all over the glass.
Tropical fruit sniff, with cinnamon and vanilla making their presence known.
Smooth, complex and quite tasty concoction....fruity, spicy, delicious....ample cinnamon, coconut, and vanilla all adding to the intrigue.....Boriqua in the house....worth seeking out...go get some

Got this in the can.
A: pours hazy, golden yellow body with a thick white head with excellent retention and lacing.
S: sweet, earthy vanilla smelling beer with some hints of cinnamon.
T: sweet, vanilla, warming alcohol if tasting beer; earthy hop notes, but are offset by sweet lactose and coconut taste with hints of cinnamon in the aftertaste
M: velvety and very smooth
O: well balanced beer; great mouthfeel and taste combo, solid beer overall.

On draught at the brewery. It pours an opaque, pale, dirty tangerine color with a thin, milk-white head and lacing. Considering the adjuncts the nose is fairly subdued. There is coconut and lactose, and as the glass warms increasing cinnamon. I expected this to be sweeter but the taste opens with lots of tart, bitter lemon and citrus. But as the glass warms the taste develops and there is increasing lactose and notes of cinnamon. In fact, I think the cinnamon really makes the taste in this ale. For a Milkshake IPA it finishes very bitter. As expected, the mouth feel is creamy with good viscosity and pleasant carbonation, and the 8% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, this is a unique IPA brewed to emulate the Puerto Rican cocktail. While it's not the type of IPA I typically like, I enjoyed it as a once-a-year treat.
