Magnify is the closest brewery to where I call home here in Jersey but yet I hadn't been there in over a year - until two weeks ago. I was eager to give this a go because of it's description and the brewery that was involved in it's collaboration and in the end, the result was a brew that was enjoyable, fairly strong, and great for dessert for this solo imbiber.
Not a bad pour to this as the liquid was as dark as brown could get with a minimal tan head that quickly faded, leaving only a few spots of thin, curvy lacing behind as I sipped this. Lots of marshmallow sweetness and cinnamon spice in the nose as this felt like a autumnal beer more than anything else. Peanut butter stickiness, cocoa nibs, vanilla sweetness, and hints of cardamom, nutmeg, and walnut emerged as this warmed up and swished around my palate. Slick, nutty, and lightly carbonated, this was quite easy to savor given how high the alcohol was as the aftertaste felt like a desert that I'd have in front of a roaring fire.
Plenty of booze here but you wouldn't know it unless you looked at the label of this bottle. I could feel a bit as the warming effect took hold of me but it wasn't enough to overpower the sweet and nutty flavors that characterized this. Close to s'mores in a bottle that one could get, this was fun stuff that was easy to enjoy while taking a while to fully savor because of it's complexity. Not your typical Stout by any means but certainly true to stylistic form that it was fun and enjoyable throughout. Glad to see Magnify branch out from their more typical IPA offerings with this solid collaboration!
