Bottle has a thick caramel/toffee cap blocking the pour. After scooping out the caramel, in the glass the beer looks better, but still has some some floaties. Not an attractive brew, all-in-all. Head production was quite good, but it immediately fizzed out.
On to the aroma. I get bourbon and caramel, but also some oxidation, perhaps. Very sweet smelling, very boozy. Red grapes, brown sugar, vanilla, and coconut round out the profile.
Sweet; very, very sweet. Oh so sweet. Red grapes, brown sugar, bourbon mash (not as much as you might expect), chewy caramel. Mild heat in the middle. A kiss of toffee on the back third, yielding to toast and toasted coconut. Chewy caramel finish.
Noticeable but by no means unbearable alcohol heat. Fairly thin but sticky body. A thicker mouthfeel would pair much better with the sugary sweetness.
No noticeable flaws overall on the palate. I have a feeling this is either exactly, or damn near close to, what Magnify intended with this beer. Perhaps not one to frequently revisit (although small pours at the tap room would probably be pleasant from time to time, especially in winter), but an interesting experience without question.

Pours dark and syrupy, berry fizzy, minimal head that fizzles away like a coke. Huge aroma of sweet candy, some coconut. Flavor is very sweet, ample toffee and caramel, barrel aging is not very noticeable, coconut presents on the finish. Thick and syrupy, virtually no carbonation, feels very, very flat. Overall an ok barrel aged pastry stout, just ok, way too sweet.

Reviewed 5 days after bottle release. Poured into a Magnify tulip glass at nearly room temperature. It pours a dark mahogany with a thin, mocha-colored head that disappeared almost immediately leaving very little lacing. There is a lot of what appears to be floating coconut detritus. It has a very fragrant smell featuring milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, coconut, and faint but noticeable bourbon. While quite sweet the taste is truly decadent. I immediately taste fresh caramel and toffee, along with cocoa. The coconut is faint at first but becomes more noticeable as I sip. The bourbon is subtle but warming. While the flavors are bold and delightful, the sweetness is almost overwhelming. It's like sipping on a candy bar. The best attribute is its mouth feel: super rich, creamy, and chewy with an oily consistency (in a good way). It doesn't drink like 12%. Overall, Copper Kettle is the epitome of a dessert sipper. In fact, it would nicely accompany a dish of vanilla ice cream.
