Trouble by Design is a new 10% Triple IPA. We set out to brew a Triple IPA that drinks so smooth you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s double digit ABV. Be careful, this beer will creep up on you. We hopped this beer multiple times with Mosaic, Azacca, Cashmere, Galaxy and Citra Cryo.

Canned on date: ??????
A - Opaque dark golden peach colored pour with a thin layer of bubbly, soapy white lacing resting on top.
S - Smells like a confusing mess. Coconut, light peach, stale citrus, delicate berry, and staleness.
T - Light berry, some mild peppery spice, light pineapple/tropical fruit/and lingering lime underneath the surface.
M - Thick, a little frothy, chewy, and very soft.
O - The ABV is very well hidden but I wish Magnify would start date stamping their cans...they never have, and probably never will. Tired of rolling the dice (and losing) on their IPA's.

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass; canned 07/06/20.
A: Pours a cloudy, dark golden color with a one and a half inch, foamy, white head with rim and cap retention and lacing evident late, but substantially.
S: Aroma vegetal (oregano, ?marijuana), tropical fruit (papaya >> mango), pitted fruit (nectarine > peach), and maybe some lime citrus. Moderately resiny. Caramel and honeysuckle definitely under all that fruit.
T: Semisweet. Flavors favor oregano, caramel, papaya, and citrus, although other components of bouquet clearly present. Complex with pine, resin, and barley grain/malt flavor strong with solid bitterness to ameliorate excess sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with excellent carbonation. Nearly creamy, substantial mouthfeel.
O: Trouble by Design is a delicious, well constructed TIPA on a par with any of the best I have had. Just gorgeous on the palate.

Reviewed 12 days after can release. Poured into a Magnify tulip glass. It pours an opaque, apricot-orange color with a large, creamy, bright white head and very thick lacing. A nice fruity nose with lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, and some other tropical notes. The taste opens fresh and fruity with lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, and honeydew melon, along with pine needles. Magnify's made nice use of the fruity Mosaic, Cashmere, Galaxy, and Azacca hops. There is little bitterness. It's a very refreshing beer. It has a very pleasing mouthfeel: creamy and rich with moderate carbonation, and it drinks surprisingly easily for its 10% ABV. Overall, for such a big beer, Trouble by Design is surprisingly lite and refreshing. Magnify really excels at brewing flavorful, fruity TIPAs that aren't overpowering.
