14 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a mostly opaque, brownish golden-orange with a large, foamy, bright white head and thick coating of lacing. On the nose there is lemon, lime, grapefruit, stone fruit, and a whiff of malt and pine needles. The taste opens with a blast of tart lemon peel and grapefruit balanced by crackery malt and grassy and herbal notes from the Mosaic hops. There is a lot of firm bitterness throughout courtesy of the El Dorado hops. It finishes peppery and slightly astringent. It's nicely balanced and on the tart, bitter side. This ale is medium-bodied with a fairly lively level of carbonation, and it's very easy to drink with an ABV of 6.5% Overall, Frame of Reference boasts lots of flavor and is an easy and fun American IPA to drink. A lot of craft breweries would love to brew an IPA this good.
