On Fireee is a new 10% Triple IPA inspired by arguably the best basketball video game of the 90s. This beer is hopped with the unstoppable combination of Citra, Citra Cryo, Nelson, Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo and Sabro. This beer is dialed in, just like MJ in the 90s.

16o can from Tavour. Hazy golden pour with a one finger foamy white head. Sharp tropical fruit aroma, hops, alcohol. Taste is ripe fruit, mango, guava, melon, sweet and a little burn. Creamy, nice feel.

Pours a murky orange with a small fluffy head and a lot of lacing.

Smells of slightly dank grassy hops along with some sweet fruits.

Tastes of orange, mango and pineapple with a lightly dank undertone. The high alcohol level hides well other than contributing to a warm finish.

Medium body with light carbonation. Lush mouthfeel.

This is an unusual IPA in that it is dank rather than bitter. Otherwise it is a very strong, very juicy sipper of an IPA.

First of all, I'd just like to quickly talk about how goddamn fun and stupid it is that Magnify has a series of IPAs all based off of NBA Jam announcer quotes. That is just great. I've had a few triple IPAs from these guys at this point, and they tend to be really damn good, so I am excited to give this one a shot, especially because it's just under a week old (canned on my birthday, 3/16/21, no less). On Fireee features a triple dry-hopping dose of Citra, Nelson, Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo, and Sabro. That is quite the bevy of vaunted hop varietals, so yeah. Let's just dive right in here and hope this is a slam dunk. Groan.

The pour here is a little darker and murkier than I typically have come to expect from Magnify, but the head formation is excellent, building up to a massive cap of three fingers of foam that recedes after a few minutes to a single finger with great, consistent patterns of drippy lace and solid legs. Color is a deep orange with ruddy haze. Surface is almost totally covered, as well, and there are some fine micro-bubbles in there as well. Looks nice and creamy with superb consistency.

This has a really aromatic and extremely dank nose. Just tons of onion, earthiness, passion fruit, cannabis, and ripe mango showing off all over the place. The subtler tropical aspects that Sabro can contribute are felt here, and the obvious Mosaic (and Mosaic Cryo) influence is certainly felt to a huge degree as well. This just smells sticky, intense, and really forward about all of the herbal and green elements these hops can bring. Way less juicy/tropical than I thought it would be, even though some of those elements can certainly be detected... they're just drowned under waves of intense dankness.

A bit of chalky yeast with flavors of tangerine/tangelo, bright grapefruit pith, a bit of mango, and loads of earthy dank goodness in the finish. Some light pine resin and a hint of bitterness mingling with the complexity brought about by Nelson (which feels a little less apparent here than in some other beers it features in, but perhaps it wasn't pushed as hard or has been outcompeted by the Mosaic aspect)... some undertones of minerality and menthol-like grassiness on the exhale. Ethanol is a bit apparent, which makes some sense cuz this is 10%, but it's also a bit less drinkable than other TIPAs I've had as a result. Perhaps the freshness here really makes the hops and alcohol pop, which is good in a sense, but it would be cool to see how this one smooths out over the course of a couple weeks. I know, you can't win with me sometimes... I've had complaints about 5 week old DDH IPAs, and now I'm saying one that is a mere six days old could actually potentially stand to be a bit older? Sorry, not sorry. This is kind of a bruiser, but it's pretty fun for what it is.

On Fireee pours a wonderful hazy straw color with a slightly off-white head. Lacing lingers while you sip this TDH IPA down.

The smell was a little light and lacking for my tastes. Slight citrus notes but I don't get any strong hoppy scents.

For a 10% ABV named On Fireee I was hoping for a stronger kick. As I've noted with the other NBA Jam themed Magnify selections I guess that is what you have with DDH and (in this case) TDH IPAs. But I'm missing the hop heavy scent that the others had.

That being said, for a 10% beer it is very drinkable. Which can be risky - in a good way. Sipping back an entire can or two goes pretty quickly and definitely lights a Fireee inside you and should lead to a fun evening.

All in all, this is another good IPA from Magnify. On Fireee is my least favorite of the NBA Jam quartet. I'd reach for one of the others first but if you want a strong IPA that's easy to sip give On Fireee a go!
