Ceiling Glass Skies is a new Imperial IPA collaboration with Dancing Gnome from Pittsburgh. We brew Stained Glass Skies, they brew Stained Glass Ceilings, so naturally we mashed up both beers. Double Dry Hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, Nelson and Zappa.

8/2/20...hazy, cloudy bronzed gold with tight ;layer of foam. Sharp lemony nose, heavy citrus. Lemon rind forward flavor. Some funky bitters in there. Almost pulpy. Heavy duty IPA not for the faint of heart.

Reviewed on day of can release. Poured into a tulip glass. It pours a dirty, brownish tangerine color with more than a finger of fluffy, eggshell-colored head and thick, creamy lacing. On the nose there is subdued lemon and grapefruit and whiffs of oats and vanilla. There isn't much of an obvious hop presence in the smell. The taste opens with tart lemon peel and a hint of grapefruit but quickly segues into a dense, fairly bitter malty taste with burnt toast. It finishes with considerable dry bitterness. As the glass warms, there are additional notes of berry and spices, and white wine. The flavors are subtle. This ale has a fairly creamy mouth feel for its 8% ABV. Overall, Ceiling Glass Skies has a different taste and feel than many other Magnify DIPAs. The toasted crackery malt subsumes the fruit. But it's really tasty and would pair nicely with a burger, cheese steak or sausage sandwich.
