Fudgement Day III: Return of the Nuttership is the next beer in our series of 11% thick, fudgey non-barrel aged stouts. This beer is brewed with chocolate pudding, chocolate fudge, marshmallow and peanut butter. Notes of chocolate fountains, boardwalk fudge and peanut butter cups. Please note that this beer does contain a small amount of lactose from the chocolate fudge.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of chocolate and peanut butter. Taste is sweet caramel, chocolate, marshmallow and vanilla. Smooth and creamy.

Surprising amount of cola on the nose, amplified by the slightly metallic edge brought by the peanuts.
Thick but not chewy on the palate. Very easy to drink.
Less sweet and rich than I expected. It comes across more bitter, and the peanut butter adds some sharpness but little richness. It's almost like a peanut butter cup missing a touch of sugar. It is, however, very tasty.

Pours a cola brown with a decent oatmeal head reducing to a thin ring, lots of sudsy lacing. Nose is bitter chocolate, cola, coffee, and peanuts. Taste follows suit with a subtle sweet vanilla/marshmallow note. Feel is fairly thin given the ABV and the additives. Overall, fairly good. 3/5.

Reviewed two days after can release. Poured into a Magnify tulip glass. It pours a very dark walnut - almost black - with a huge foamy, light mocha-colored head and spotty lacing which dissipated quickly. The fragrant smell features roasted malt, cocoa, and discernible peanut butter. It tastes just as advertised: rich, soft chocolate pudding and freshly-roasted peanuts. The initial taste is reminiscent of a candy bar. But right behind the the initial sweetness is a strong dose of baker's chocolate and bitter, burnt char which provides quite a balance to the initial sweetness. As the glass warms it becomes increasingly bitter. This is by no means a pastry stout. If there is any disappointment it's in the mouth feel which is not nearly as thick and chewy as in some of Magnify's other big stouts. The carbonation is mild. What's impressive is how well the ABV is hidden; it doesn't drink like 11%. Overall, while Fudgement Day is very good I prefer iterations I and II.
