How It Started How It’s Going is a new 8.5% 0 IBU west coast style Imperial IPA. We took the classic, old skool west coast style Imperial IPA that started it all and gave it our new school 100% dry hopped treatment to drastically reduce bitterness. This beer is double dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo.

14 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a murky, muddy golden color with one finger of creamy, bright white head and thick lacing that lasted through the pour. The nose is fruity with notes of lemon, lime, grapefruit, and lite floral hops. Its taste opens with tart lemon peel and grapefruit rind with a dry, malty backbone. The bitterness (to the extent there is any in a 0 IBU beer) comes from the flavor of the citrus and there is absolutely no burn. It has a very clean finish. Its mouth feel is super crisp and lite for 8.5% ABV and the carbonation level is just right. I drained the glass very quickly. Overall, I think Magnify's description of this ale as "West Coast style" is misplaced because it connotes hoppy bitterness that simply isn't there. How It Started How It's Going should be enjoyed on its own merits without comparison to style. It's a very nice change-of-pace IPA.
