16 oz can. You know the drill.
Pours a hazy bright orange color with an off-white cap. Not much retention. Leaves some splotchy lacing.
Marshmallow completely dominates the aroma. It's like opening a fresh bag of fluffy ass marshmallows and taking a massive waft. There's some very faint vanilla and citrus. On one hand this does not smell like any kind of IPA. On the other hand, it clearly isn't supposed to, so that has to be taken into account. It clearly says "Marshmallow IIPA" at the top of the label.
The flavor definitely brings out the hops. Very citrusy; there's grapefruit and clementine oranges with a hint of lemon zest. The marshmallow just kind of chills in the back. It's definitely there, but it's giving the hops a turn with the controller for a bit.
The feel is actually perfect for this kind of beer. Hell maybe only for this specific beer only. You know when you bite into a big marshmallow and it almost dissolves in your mouth? That's exactly what drinking this beer feels like. It's creamy, slightly chewy and smooth. Lightly carbonated. The alcohol is present but barely.
Overall, this is my first Magnify beer. Definitely an interesting introduction to a brewery known for their hoppy beers, but this one is not just interesting, it's actually quite good. It does everything you'd expect from the label without letting the marshmallow overpower the hops. I don't know what you'd call this beer, but I'd call it very good.
