We took our Maine Event IPA and added guava and tangerine. We used a similar process to our smoothie sours that allows us to add unfermented fruit to the beer without risk of refermentation. This allows the fruit flavor to really shine making this an especially fruity and juicy IPA.

On draught at the brewery 3 days after release. This is a rather strange beer and it's hard to review to style. It's considered to be a NEIPA but in many ways it's more like a Kettle Sour. It pours an intense, murky, muddy orange color with a half finger of foamy, ecru-colored head and thick lacing. It looks like a Tree House IPA. The smell is big and fruity with lots of tangerine, guava, and vanilla cream, akin to a creamsicle. The taste is unique and nothing like the base Maine Event. It's very sweet and juicy with abundant tangerine and tropical fruit over a dry, crackery malt base. It's hard to detect the hops used in Maine Event. The mouth feel is very thick and chewy with lite/moderate carbonation and the 6.5% ABV poses no impediment. However, there was a lot of sandy detritus that was off-putting. I assume this would not occur if poured from a can. Overall, Fruited Event is much fruitier and sweeter than a typical IPA but hoppier than a normal Kettle Sour. It's a tasty and unusual beer but I wouldn't drink it regularly.
