Pours very dark, somewhat thick, zero head. Aroma is boozy vanilla extract, light Dr. Pepper. Flavor is vanilla extract, brown sugar, has an astringent, bitter finish. Fairly thick. Overall,
When I cracked it I was expecting the coconut version and thought the beer was spoiled. Then I realized it was the double vanilla batch. Not my favorite. I will be adding some Amburana chips to soak in the beer for 2 days to see what that does. Can’t make it worse…

Special 7th Anniversary release. Poured from 500 ML bottle into a tulip glass at 65°. It pours a deep walnut. The thin, medium mocha-colored head fizzled away quickly. The smell is fragrant with dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco smoke, burnt nuts, and char. There is also the subtle but unmistakable aroma of bourbon. The bourbon is much more evident in the taste. It envelopes the heavy notes of vanilla with the chocolate and cake batter in the background. At the back end it turns burnt and bitter with earthy, nutty char. The alcohol level generally - and the bourbon notes - are warming. It's noticeably boozy. The flavors blend well. The mouth feel is great: thick and creamy with low/moderate carbonation. You can feel the 12.5% ABV. Overall, this variant of Born Day is tastes less adjunct-filled than many of the others. I like the fact that it's not overly sweet. In fact, it's nicely mellow and should age well.
