Quite the malt bomb. Bronze/gold, fluffy head. Slightly citrusy notes on the smell. Malty, mildly citrusy. Boozy, slightly thick, medium bodied, dry finish. A very strong IPA.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy dark golden, towering, fluffy head, solid lacing. Potent citrusy aroma, oranges, grapefruit peel, ripe tropical fruit in the back. Taste starts with a slow rising burn, stone fruit, dank notes. Thick, lingering fruit and a little heat.

Canned on 7/12/2022. Poured into a snulip glass. It pours a dense, opaque, muddy orange color with a huge cap of creamy, eggnog-colored foam and thick lacing. Its nose features ripe cantaloupe, lemon, grapefruit, a rich base of malt, and soft floral hops. The taste offers sweet, ripe melon and tangerine, along with tart lemon and grapefruit rind, and a touch of pine. Dry hopping with Simcoe adds an earthy, somewhat herbal, bitterness throughout. But the sweetness dominates and gives it a slightly medicinal character. The mouth feel is very thick - almost syrupy - but the carbonation level is appropriate and it's not very boozy considering its 12% ABV. Overall, I view Event of the Year as a bit of a novelty. Magnify likes to tinker with its IPAs and they certainly succeeded in brewing a huge version of the flagship Maine Event. I prefer the original and the DDH variant.
