Can pour at the brewery. It is a hazy, dirty tangerine color with a half finger of fluffy, eggshell-colored head and abundant lacing that lasted through the pour. Considering it was poured from the can the nose was rather subdued; mostly lemon, lime, and soft floral hops. The taste is hard to describe which isn't surprising given the complex hop bill. There are notes of grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, bubblegum, red berry, and pine sap. There is also some herbal spiciness in the background. It's tangy. Despite the use of Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe, it is not very bitter. The mouth feel is quite lite for 7.5% ABV and it drinks easily. Overall, despite it's name, the ambitious hop bill of Citra, Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe, and Eclipse Spectrum yields an ale without an easily expressible personality. Still, Mr. Popular is a flavorful DIPA and is worth trying.
