DATE: April 6, 2026... OCCASION: something significant could be coming my way with a Michigan victory tonight--might as well hope it my way with a St. Paddy's Day remnant... GLASSWARE: Otto's mug... pours a viscous jet-black body hoisting a staunch brown foam that holds well past its initial sips... coffee, sweet chocolate, and brown sugar have a dessert-like effect, while toasted malts evoke baked bread and chocolate cake... lactose also sweetens the deal... first sip is smooth, creamy, and appreciable, despite its pedestrian 4.5% ABV... its initial impression doesn't translate to a lasting finish, but as far as IDSs go, that's to be expected... chocolate, coffee bean, buttery lactic sweetness, and robust bread malts work in a flavorful unison that captures the style with fidelity... most Irish dry stouts kind of do the same thing, but Magnify's offering should be considered aptly titled--a rich experience that welcomes the next sip or can...
