The aroma is very chocolaty at first. I don't get much chili pepper when I first smell it, but it builds subtly (as does the cinnamon). Touches of roast and vanilla also show up. I like the aromatic subtlety, but the flavor doesn't quite follow things. I get some nice chocolate at first, but the mid-taste is somewhat vegetal. There is a nicely roasty finish, though. Here's where this beer disappoints: I hardly get any cinnamon or chili pepper. Like almost none. It drinks well, at least, with a dry finish and medium feel. The poorly showcased adjuncts end up being this beer's undoing. A letdown coming off of the fantastic Citra Splendor.
