We are celebrating five years of Manor Hill Tavern by bringing back an old favorite that we initially released when the Tavern first opened in the historic “Taylor’s Row” section of the OEC. This brew has nearly 30% of the grist bill carved out for malted, flaked and caramel rye grains. Assertively hopped with Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial, and Falconer’s Flight, this deep copper colored American IPA boasts big aromas of grapefruit and pine with a resinous finish.

Light haze to the reddish amber body. Very good lacing despite a relatively small off white head. Laid back aroma that starts off on a malty footing while gradually giving way to resinous hops. Taste is more focused on the hop profile. Picking up floral notes, pine and grapefruit along with the caramel malts. Bitterness is evident but not numbing. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel leading to a lingering finish. Bottled on 2/14/22.

This undoubtedly came to me for The CANQuest (tm), CANtesy of local, in-person trader, @tone77 whose generosity has been boundless. As to the brewery, it may be retired, but why take down any/all of its info from your website? I have a few CANstions that I would have liked to have had answered. 8=(
From the CAN: "Family Owned, Farm Brewed (tm)".
My Crack! of the vent unleashed a buncha foaming & CANpled with the brewery's lack of info, I felt as though all bets were off. I simply let it Glug in a free-flowing manner into the awaiting glass. This resulted in two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny with moderate retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was pine & caramel, indicating that the hops were falling away, but still discernible. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was both sharp with cool, minty piney hops and sweet with emerging caramel malt. Mmm. In CANother life, this could have been a DIPA. Finish was semi-dry and quite pleasant. YMMV.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has an orange/beige color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus, mango. Taste is citrus, mango, pine, some malts, moderate bitterness, a bit too drinkable for the abv. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a beer worth trying.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Looks like canned May 11th 2017. Purchased at the Tavern.
Deep orange and chestnut light brown body color. Makes for a real nice appearance, through a somewhat hazy body color. Head is a good classic off white, reaching an easy three fingers with moderate retention. Slightly soapy clumping of lace, but with a good sheen and cling. Real nice looking beer, getting into some real great looking territory nearly.
Good solid and impressive hop front. Herbal hop notes, and touches of spice quality. Hits a little garden herb variety slightly as well, with sharp pine aromatics that linger. Faint touches of malt sweetness but fairly neutral. Pretty much a very good start so far.
Palate manages to get a bit malt forward than anticipated. Sugary malt caramel front, with syrupy brown sugar tones in the mid palate. A somewhat fruity tone of hop but is heavily weighted down by sweetness and brown sugar like flavors. A bit of a tannic quality to this on the finish as well ever slightly too, kind of a roof palate dryness and aftertaste.
Drinkable IPA but misses out on key hop enjoyment.

Appearance: pours an orange color with a 2" head that lasts a bit.
Smell: light citrus and some dank hop bitterness comes through to the nose.
Taste: caramel, grapefruit, pine, some tropical tones, and an earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout with some dryness late.
Overall: decent IPA with a nice flavor profile.

HAD THIS BOTH ON TAP IN MANOR HILL'S ON-SITE TAP ROOM AND IN A 12 oz CAN (of which this review is based on) FROM A LOCAL STORE.
L = HUGE / ROUND BUBBLES - POURED KINDA HARD BUT A LOVELY FOUR + FINGER HEAD!
S = START OF ALLERGY SEASON SO N.A. = bummer.... :(
T = SLIGHT SPICY WINTER WARMER-ISH (BUT DIDN'T NOTE THE CITRUS AS ADVERTISED VIA THE BAR-MAIDS ON TAP)
F = SMOOTH / RICH
O = SOLID - VERY DRINKABLE I.P.A. ( an American IPA? not sophisticated enough to know the difference) - NO ISSUES - BASICALLY A WELL-ROUND IPA FROM THE EAST COAST

On tat at the Manor Hill Tavern the other night.
IMHO, this represents a significant step up from the regular house IPA. It's bigger and juicier, with a nice note of dankness in the nose, along with considerable citrus, tropical fruit and light pine. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but once again, there was plenty of decent bitterness in the finish to counter the abundance of tropical fruit. As with the regular IPA, the finish was ultimately dry and fairly bitter, and drinkability was excellent (none of the MH IPA's I sampled were the least bit hot or cloying). Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with the beer delivering plenty of flavor.
Pretty impressive effort from the folks at MH. Again, I thought this much better than the regular IPA, which is actually a fairly decent IPA in it's own right.
