Historically brewed by monks in the monasteries of Belgium, the Dubbel is a time-honored, traditional malt-forward Belgian Ale. A grist of Pilsner malt blended with substantial amounts of Caramel malts, brings aromas of plump raisins, sweet dark toffee, cloves, nutmeg, and dried sweet cherries, reminding us of spiced holiday cookies and fruit cakes. The rich malty backbone combined with additions of Belgian candi sugar, unite to create a slightly sweet medium bodied ale, while maintaining a crisp finish.

A murky bronze body along with a small off white head and scant lacing. Dried fruit and candi sugar in the aroma. Flavor is sweet, a bit spicy, some dark fruit. Medium bodied mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Not much bitterness. Hops stay subtle. It's not a bad brew but seems to lack the qualities that make a Belgian Dubbel special.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bronze color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of dark fruits. Taste is cherries, raisins, malts, a bit of spices and a hint of alcohol. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Look: There is a bit of a clouding to it. It is cooper with an off white head. It has medium head retention.
Smell: It has aromas of caramel and raisins. There are other notes of spices, cherries and a dark flowery element.
Taste: There are some caramel and raisin elements with cherries. It has a flower element to it with some spices.
Feel: It has substantial carbonation which actually messes with the flavor a bit. It has a medium body.
Overall, the flower elements are off with the raisins and malt, but decent.

Hazy chestnut brown, big khaki head but retention is wanting, spotty lace
A little bit floral at first, then rum-soaked raisins, figs, and plums on the nose
Dried figs and raisins, a bit of bready malt on the palate, just a hint of spice
Light bodied with lively carbonation. Very drinkable
An easy drinker for sunny, cold days. Could easily catch up with you if you're not watching
