Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is lightly hazy straw gold, head is off white with large frothy top (over two inches thick), head remains and laces glass sides well.
Smell is malt forward but pleasant hop balance on the back end: notes toast, biscuit, earth, light citric note.
Taste is similar with prominent malt forward flavor with biscuit and light toast, some earthy and citric hop notes, light pith and herbal/tea like notes.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, lower bitterness.
Overall a well put together pale ale, reminiscent of an extra pale ale with notable malt presence.

Pale Ale
Vail Brewing
Pete's Stash
ABV: 6%
Date: Unknown
Last beer from Vail to drink. The beer says it is retired, but this is a fresh can. The temperature is 44.5 degrees; served in a pint glass. The pour created a frothy and creamy bright white head. The retention of the head is above average, leaving lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 7, pale amber with straw yellow hues. The clarity is clear, with just a touch of haze. The appearance of the beer is above average.
The initial aromas are mangos, pineapple, oranges, and biscuits. Nosing the glass a few more times, I smell grass, herbal, hints of floral esters, and subtle dank. The beer has ripe tropical with herbal and floral undertones.
The hops in the beer have tropical notes of mango, passion fruit, pineapple, and guava. The malts are lightly toasty, cereal grains, and bready.
Medium-low carbonation and a has a medium body. The mouthfeel is slightly astringent, finishing clean and crisp.
Most of the IPA coming out of breweries are dripping wet with tropical notes. I do enjoy those hops, but they are getting old. I love the classic SNPA, and I think beers need to celebrate those hops again.

A: nice copper color with a burnt orange note. Huge 2-3 finger creamy solid white head. Real nice looking
S: sweet earthy malts, wort, caramel, pine, resin, orange peel
T: follows the nose. Sweet caramel malts with a little bit of sticky sugar. Sweet resin and bitter pine. Sweet oranges and orange peel. A touch of grapefruit and sweet strawberry
M: creamy, medium mouthfeel with medium creamy carbonation
O: a pretty solid pale ale. It’s a bit sticky and sweet, but it works with the earthy sweet and the bitterness

June '17 - pours copper and black tinted with foam that wears away. Fruity floral nose. Mellow malty pale taste. Breads and toffee with a tight backing bitter. Chewy malt. Pretty persistent bitter. Tasty.

This IPA has a unique taste that helps set it apart from a standard offering. I'm struggling to put words to it. But it has a bit of a fruity or citrus flavor to it which adds something without being overwhelming.
