As it seems that the attention has turned from the balanced and somber style of American pale ale has turned to the aggressive and somewhat brash IPA, the competent brewers of Vail brings us back to the flavor of reason, of balance and of maturity by showering our tastebuds in a familiar flavor that's done properly, flavorful and crisp, balanced but hoppy in an ale that signifies the brilliance of the craft beer movement in America.

Above its faint haze and golden sheen rises a spicy and sweet scent that starts with caramel, toast and biscuit and then counters with citrus, ginger and pepper. Deep within, the taste simmers with sweet caramels, graham cracker, cashew and honey-like granola. Lacy, frothy and capped with a firm eggshell cap, the initial impressions are steadfast and succulent.

The middle is full and bright- grapefruit and orange peels align with toasted sweetness and growing dryly toastedness. Starchy even as the sweetness begins to drift, the malt continues its strong support of growing hoppiness- starting with flavorful citrus and melon but drifting slowly into a spicy bitterness of pine, ginger and bright grassiness.

Medium-bodied yet trending dry, the finish is bitter with trailing sweetness and an acute crispness that ushers in a refreshing, highly drinkable and a crisp palate. Lasting bitterness of citrus peel outweigh the malt deep in finish and makes this ale a universal taste for all-American foods like pizza, hot dogs and cheeseburgers 'cause "Merica.
