Our English-syle pale ale. Fieg is agressively hopped using Willamette, Cascade and Cluster hops, and is a favorite among Hollow Heads as well as your traveling show bands and the occasional caravan of roving gypsies.

a little more hoppy and bitter than i am used to in an english pale ale here, but the malts are traditional and full, toasty and sweet, and this seems balanced even still. its a well enough made beer, but its definitely not one of my favorites from these guys so far, its a little abrasive, and i think it drinks a little heavy for what it is, a style i want to be able to make a session out of. there is a brassy sort of mineral thing, almost metallic to me, not long lasting or anything, not too disruptive, but weird in here. the hops are spicy and piney and a little more robust in flavor than i think the style generally allows for, where are the fuggles and east kent golding in here? medium bodied with appropriately mellow carbonation and a bready taste that lingers through the finish on some residual grain sugar. overall a fine pint, but not one of the ones i have liked the most from these guys to date. maybe ill revisit it in the fall, but its a little heavy for summertime drinking, at least in my opinion. still decidedly old school, which is part of the charm here...

Draft at HH brewpub. Underwhelming pale ale. Bland and chalky, very dry finish. Amber body with thin head. Not impressed. But it is more English than American...

On tap at old Chicago
a- pours a deep opaque brown color. Very thick looking. Very little he'd formation- just a film.
s- very subdued nose. I venture to say nothing is
there.
t- starts off with a nice balanced note of 2 row and caramel malts- lightly sweet. More bitter mid strem, tongue gripping. However no hops detected. Finishes with the only hop note, lightly grassy.
m- moderate beer body, even lighter carbonation. Finishes very clean. An undistictive mouthfeel
d- easy drinking, bit that seems due to it's unassertive nature. Not filling.

Fiewild English Ale was served in a standard pint glass. The beer is bronze with a skim off off-white foam. It has sheets of lace.
The aroma is fresh and an inviting mix of milled grains and floral hops.
The beer leads with a trace of bitterness with some pine notes. The malts add a substantial backbone. There are some English muffin and apple notes in the finish.
The mouth is silky smooth with excellent midlevel carbonation.
Easy drinking session beer here. Well done!!
