Rich, full bodied and extremely flavorful. The huge hopping rate helps balance the malty flavors of this very popular brew…. Truly A Flashback In A Glass”.

a red ipa type here, i was surprised at how deep the color was when it showed up at the table, definitely cut from the old school cloth, but a balanced and drinkable brew thats neither sweet nor heavy from the deeper malt base, and somewhat of a timeless flavor profile really, something i could sit in here and drink all day. i have found just about all the beers in here to be sort of classically built, professionally brewed, and kind of simple and straightforward, not really innovative, but all very good, and all real clean. this is dry for its color, has some nice body, and the hops are fresh and piney, with a little bit of a grapefruit pithy bitterness, but only at the very end. a toasted note gives a warmth to the middle without any unnecessary sugar, and this seems like a fall and winter profile to me more than a spring and summer one, but its a great match with their delicious buffalo wings in here, cuts the grease and spice, has enough flavor to stand up to the heat, and seems to wash the palate clean after each ship. a pretty elemental beer really, but flavorful and well made. i like what these guys are up to.

Good looking beer, nice lacing, rich amber body. Hops dominate the aroma, taste is nice blend of malt and hops. Smooth and velvety. Nice! This is one of my go-to Boise IPAs.

Hippie Shake, on-tap @ Flatbread Community Oven, Meridian ID. Served in shaker.

A: Pours a darker golden/amber color than I remember...mostly clear, effervescent body...great lacing from a light yellowish head.

S: Hops and malts, with decent balance. English-style malts, toffee...grassy...grains...a touch of alcohol? Surprised, considering the abv. There is a bit of pine here too.

T: Caramel & toffee...light clean pine bitterness...a hint of an earthy/wood character? Pretty bready, decent bitterness behind all of the malt body.

MF: Very creamy, almost medium mouthfeel, initially crisp but finishing with a moderate creamy body. There is a light burn on the finish, though I'm having a tough time believing its the alcohol thats that noticeable.

O: More malt-forwad, but still pretty hoppy. Reminds me of an English IPA or a robust APA.

This beer really stood out to me, the beer had a nice head, and a citrus hoppy smell. The hops were very smooth and did not override the complex malts. I was told this was an ESB. I have hiked the hills outside the brewery the last 19 years.... I will be stopping in alot more for this beer.

Well named dark brown beer poured dark brown with a half inch of off white head. Nose is complex with rich earthy malts, smells that unfold a bit, turning to biscuit and honey in the nose.

Comparatively, the taste is a bit flat and muddy. Here's where the name helps because this gooey, sticky mess really is more of a whipped thick alcoholic grain frappe rather than beer. If Guinness claims to be food, this is a meal. So drinkability is understandably low. Certainly worth a try, though, if only to explore the limits of brewing.

Served in typical pint glass.
A) Poured with a finger thick head. Dark amber body. Hazy. Head settles a bit leaving a nice creamy lacing.
S) Citrus and floral hop tones. Caramel. Subtle brown sugar.
T) Toasted malts. Caramel. Slight nuttiness. Finishes with a pleasant grapefruit bite.
M) Smooth. Creamy. Light fizz. Medium body.
D) Delicious. I'd have another for sure!
