This is my third from these guys and I still am not sure about them.
They opened their first taproom in West Oakland, not far from the worst part of town. Then they opened their second taproom in the Oakland Hills, not far from the better part of town. Additionally, Ghost Town doesn't tell me much about themselves on their website. Despite their ghoulish label and their preponderance of AIPAs in their portfolio, I still give them very good Overall Hugs. But by the time I have my fourth from Ghost Town, they better have indicated on their website what motivates them.
This is a tough category to compete in because the Belgians are better and the North Americans, usually, haven't been trying for long enough to understand the style. But Ghost Town did well enough. They kept this balanced, not too tart. And not too much coffee, a foreign substance to the style. Drank this with dinner that involved garam masala. A surprisingly effective pairing.
