On tap at the brewery. Pours dark red with white head. Taste is of herbal hops and caramel malt. Medium crisp body. Long dry finish. Good brew.

Pours a cloudy medium dark brown. It had a nice creamy white dense head. It took a while to settle and turns into a nice thin layer of creamy white froth.
Aroma is slightly over toasted bread, roasty grains, and a nice earthy spice hop presence.
Taste is roasted grain, something tea like and again nice earthy and spicy hop presence.
Has a light but very close to medium body. Awesome lingering bitterness and crispy clean finish.

On-tap @ Tap Room at Somerset Hills Hotel in Warren, NJ.
Deep amber/light brown color with decent clarity and an off-white head. Rich, bready malt aroma. A touch of spice in there from the hops, but mostly malt. Flavor is excellent. Really hitting those fresh, bready malt notes with just enough hops in there for balance. Like biting into a loaf of freshly baked bread. Clean finish and smooth with medium body.
My first beer from this NJ brewery and color me impressed. It's cool enough to see a local brewery do an altbier, but to also do it well is a thing of beauty.

Super impressed by this. Had on tap at Gaslight (or whatever that place is called) in Atlantic Highlands. Great body to it. Great appearance. Wonderful head retention and lacing. All the characteristics you'd want from it. Bready, some chocolate, some earth, a bit of caramel sweetness. Drank so easy. Finished clean. Real excited to drink more Little Dog when I can.

A: Pours an opaque light brown color with a thin off white head. Some sticky suds along the glass. Sporadic micro sized bubbles. As I worked through the bottle I poured the filtered remnants into the glass. Left with a turbid hazelnut / prune juice color.
S: Subtle notes of dark bread, caramel, light dried fruits and a bit of chalk after emptying the contents of the bottle into my glass.
T: Starts off with some sweeter notes of caramel, some dried fruit like raisins and even a hint of sweet red grape. A dry, nutty flavor in the middle and finishing with just a touch of bitterness. After swirling the remnants of the bottle and emptying into the glass, the yeast provides more of the fruity flavors previously described.
M: Nice level of carbonation. Very smooth.
D: Highly drinkable. I am thoroughly impressed with this brewery after the two beers that I have had. Steiner-Weiss is a great hefeweizen with a sweet and sour thing going on, and this Alt/German Style Amber Ale has a nice level of flavor and feel through the beer that makes it more complex than other examples of the style that I have had.
