Poured from 330mL can into a tall kitchen glass. The label calls this an "American stout with Earl Grey and bergamot". Best by 4/22/24.
Appearance: rich dark brown hue, not quite black, with several fingers of frothy tan foam atop. In fact, it poured with an almost inconveniently large head. Pretty, though!
Smell: roasty malt with a fair bit of sweetness and a vegetal character I typically associate with roasty stouts. However, the vegetal character is ... compensated for? ... by the extremely legit Earl Grey aroma. I am into it.
Taste: a bit roasty, especially at the end, and with a nice caramel element that is light but complements the Earl Grey really well. Bitterness is relatively strong, but I don't think that's a problem given the sweetness that is here. This is an interesting beer and a pretty successful execution of a weird idea, I would say.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: I probably wouldn't drink two of these in a row. But I could see myself drinking one a few times a week. It's kind of a bizarre beer, but it is well-executed and totally worth trying.
