I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at Élesztő in Budapest.
Appearance: medium orange with a dash of haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: somewhat toasty malt with a nice yeastiness. Not overly complicated but not bad.
Taste: toasty and yeasty; there is also a kind of odd floral flavor here. The oak adds a really weird kinda flavor to this beer; it almost feels like an off-flavor, but perhaps it’s just the odd sensensation of oaky vanillin in a festbier. Not entirely my favorite thing, it turns out.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this beer just feels a bit … wrong. I actually don’t hate it, but if you’re looking for a classic, clean oktoberfest, you won’t find it here.
