The beer is a clear dark amber, with a thin beige head leaving little lacing.

Rather weak smell, some malts nearly flour like notes and bread.

Mostly sweet, brown sugar, hints of spices, a quickly receding bitterness. Some alcohol is felt.

Rather low carbonation, an overall rather bland feeling.

A rather typical Swedish Christmas brew with alcohol focus, a bit too much to really go well with food.

A: The pour is brown with an uneven soapy head that sinks fast leaving some lacings.

S: Bready, light roasted malt. Bitter hops and fruity notes.

T: Light roasted malt. Darked dried fruits. Alcohol and rough (not in the good way). Some bitterhops.

M: The aftertaste is pretty short with bitterness and some sweet tones. Surprisingly light body but lots of bubbles.

D: Unbalanced - the alcohol dominates over all. I think their idea was alcohol before taste...

Appearance: Spendrups Julbock anno 2008 pours a clear vermillion-to-ruby colour along with a rich cream beige crown that diminishes in a matter of 30 sec.

Smell: Fudge along with notes of cream wrapped up in a malty package.

Taste: A artificial bitterness and plenty of diacetyl, with notes of brown sugar and a acidic aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium full body and rahter strong in its carbonation.

Drinkability: A run-of-the-mill "julöl", eh, I'm not all that impressed...

The colour is dark amber-red. The pale brown compact foam is finger thick.

The smell is rather weak, but there is prickly feel to it. Some burned malt, some bitter hops. No sweetness, but a buttery touch of diacetyl.

The carbonation is exaggerated; it is almost unpleasant to drink it.

The taste is malty with some dried fruits and spice. The bitterness is rather neutral. The aftertaste is a bit bitter with some notes of fruits and diacetyl, it is long lasting but simple. The alcohol is well hidden in the taste, though.

Unbalanced in many ways. I didn’t expect much from this brew but nevertheless, I feel disappointed.
