A 330ml can with a BB of Oct 2013. Picked up recently from Trembling Madness in York. The can mentions Brutal Brewing, which is apparently some sort of Spendrups sub-division. The skull motif is pretty cool.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear golden-amber colour with good carbonation and faint sediment. Forms a small head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before disappearing. Aroma of light malt with hints of stewed leaves and faint overcooked veg. Not much going on.
Tastes of light malt with a crisp, bitter finish. Notes of subtle grain, stewed leaves, mild overdone veggies and faint noble hop overtones. A tad harsh, with a dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, light and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and insubstantial body. Slightly astringent, with an aftertaste of acrid stewed leaves.
A pretty average lager - the cool branding doesn't make up for a lacklustre product. Bland flavour/aroma with a weak hint of hops. Not much between this and typical macro brews. Uninspiring - give it a miss.
