This stout packs a punch of peanut butter, coffee, toffee and vanilla wafer, then finishes crisp, and not too sweet.

Look - Pours a fairly solid black color with a really nice head.

Smell - Has a fairly strong peanut butter nose; better than most peanut beers I've had.

Taste - Taste also has a peanut butter flavor, though not as strong as I expected based on the smell.

Feel - Good carbonation. A bit watery rather than creamy.

Overall - This is definitely a decent peanut butter beer, though my favorites are almost any peanut butter beer from Prairie.

No canning date (bottom of can reads '015PNB22H'); consumed on 6/13/22

Pours a jet-chestnut-brown body capped with two and a half fingers of fluffy, beige foam; solid head retention leaves paper-thin islands of cap, a large, richly frothy collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.

Aroma is peanut butter forward, with developing accents of dusty peanuts melding with roast over time, leaving residual coffee and a touch of milk chocolate lingering on the back end of the bouquet.

Taste features roast and edges of
mild coffee, with soft, prickly nuttiness over the mid-palate fading to wisps of vanilla on the back end while toasty cereal grain and hints of malted cacao ease through the finish.

Mouthfeel offers a lighter body with a thinner texture and moderate, fluffy carbonation, levying a briefly creamy dispersion drying over the mid-palate; soft, roasty char on the back end leaves a wispy grit lingering through the finish.

This fun and approachable presentation of peanut butter in a stout is almost deliberately simple, leaving little beyond basic roast and an adept display of nuttiness; steady, very easily drinkable, but largely blasé and forgettable.

16oz can from Tavour. Black, still pour. Prominent peanut butter aroma. Taste adds some chocolate to the peanut butter, but the peanut butter stays dominant. Falls a bit flat at the finish.

A: The beer is essentially jet black in color - only trades of dark reddish brown are visible near the edges of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a quarter finger high dark tan head that quickly settled down, leaving just a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of peanut butter are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of coffee. A faint amount of sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The label of this beer makes this looks like a jar of Skippy's peanut butter and it does not lie - the stout is all about aromas and flavors of peanut butter in the smell and taste.

First impression, "Damn that is a dark beer."

Super dark brown that I thought at first was black, but with a strong flashlight you can see through it around the edges. Small dark brown colored head.

Smells strongly of chocolate and peanut butter. Pretty much a Reese's Peanut Butter cup in a glass. To be honest I kind of hoped that would be the case. Smells a little sweet.

Starts out drier and thinner than it looks. STRONG peanut butter taste. Chocolate is in here too. Mildly sweet. Pretty much it tastes like a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. That is a good thing.

Mouthfeel is light for a stout.

Overall a tasty and enjoyable beer. Not going to win any medals but I would not refuse a second glass of this stuff.
