Semillon Sour Blonde is a single barrel of sour blonde (Rueuze base) that was brewed in December 2013. In June 2014 it received left over Semillon must (non botrytis) from our collaboration with Smog City, which fermented out with the mixed culture in the barrel. 28% of the beer is made up of by the Semillon must. Semillon is a pretty subtle variety when used in dry wines (Bordeaux Blanc), with notes of mild citrus and minerals. This beer is very dry and citrusy with huge medium-plus American Oak contributions from a new to us wine barrel

On tap at the Bruery.
Golden straw colored, clear. No head. Looks like a Chardonnay.
Smell is lightly sour with dry wine notes.
Taste is more sour. The grapes are pronounced here. The sourness reminds me of some of the Xocoli I've had in the Basque Country. A dry & sour young wine made from young grapes and poured in a rough way to aerate it.
Finish is slightly slick and leaves a slightly sour coat on the back if the tongue. If you like Basque sidras or Xocoli I'd definitely try this one. It's cheaper than a plane ticket.
Also somebody was in a hurry to enter this one. The ABV is 7.18%
