Pours an amber color. Doesn't form or retain much of a head. You're left with what looks like a still orange or amber wine that doesn't have much clarity. The aroma is fruity, leaning sweet and tropical like.
Taste clearly shows this isn't a kettle sour. Sometimes reviewers just regurgitate terms. See Simcoe cat pee. Dry wood in the mouth feel, a strong sense of sourness and brettiness to it alongside the fruity aspect. Good light bodied barley and wheat aspect to the beer, allows the bugs, fruit and wood to shine moreso. Its sourness is upped and makes this just as convincing as a wild ale. Thankfully the abv on it is in the berliner like range so it still possesses some of those older school Hottenroth qualities (albeit with amped up sourness, acidity and fruit). Above average carbonation. I actually like the slightly unconventional fruit additions. For an improved result, might tame down the acidity and sourness for a berliner.

750ml bottle served in a little Cantillon glass. 2018 bottle.
Pours clear golden with a smallish head, strong carbonation. Smell is kettle sour, fruity,
Taste is tart, fruity. Kettle sour flavor (I don't really know how to describe it aside from that) is not overwhelming. Fruit is not very clear or crisp.
Mouthfeel is very dry and light. Overall...not really a big fan. It's not bad.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly hazed golden orange topped by a dense two finger white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of wheat with some tartness along with a huge blast of fruitiness. Pineapple is hidden so it's likely a mix of dragonfruit and prickly pear
T: Taste is nice tartness up front along with some creamy wheat along with the huge blast of fruits with notes of pineapple, prickly pear and dragonfruit. Swallow is another hit of sourness with some more slight wheat and a mashup of all the fruits in the beer with a hint of lemony tartness at the end from the acidity.
M: This beer is fairly light in body but it is not watery. Carbonation is effervescent and slightly prickly while the beer has a drying finish from the acidity.
O: Overall this is a very interesting beer. Loads of fruit flavor along with the notes that a person would expect from a berliner. The fruits do not overwhelm either which makes this one nice to drink. It's worth a try if you can find it.
