We put our classic Sour in the Rye to rest in rum barrels from the Island of Martinique along with pineapple and coconut for a period of 6 months. It embodies swashbuckling flavors of oak, rum, pineapple, and coconut.

Good ol' laughable BA, a beer aged in a rum barrel is a kettle sour? Wild. No wonder what happened, happened.
Another selection from the 1/2 session of March Madness 2022. Man its been some time since Nevada or Marquette won a tourney game. Poured into that little Marquette tasting glass (where is that these days?).
I think I kind of forgot what these were like, so I was surprised when a full on, amber gold mixture kind of pour emerged. Been a few years since the last Sour in the Rye I guess. Light 1/5" head, off white. Aroma pops for the adjuncts, coconut and pineapple are discernable in the nose. Wood, no, but the heavy handed sourness leads the way.
Taste, yeah man, I can riff on this just like every other Sour in the Rye. You get a strong dose of sourness and acidity, hey, you know what you were getting into mouth feel wise, but the coconut and pineapple stand up strong. The malty rye base still works well as a base and showcase. I couldn't get any jive out of the rum barrels. That is probably a good thing, I tend to not like the taste of rum. This one brings the stuff in large proportions, pretty good.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep golden orange beer which is topped by a finger of soapy off white head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of some nice sourness, some funky rum, some coconut and pineapple
T: Taste is quite sour up front with some citric notes, pineapple and coconut come in as well along with a touch of funky rum. Nice oak. On the swallow there's more lemon lime sourness, rum, coconut, and pineapple with some lingering tartness.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of body with a slightly silky feel on the palate. Carbonation is low but it is adequate for the style and this beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is a really tasty beer. The flavors and complexity are really nice. Kinda wish there was a bit more coconut going on but that's a minor complaint. I'm happy to see that this one came back around again.

375mL bottle acquired through The Bruery’s Society. No bottling date, released June 2018. Served in a Bruery teku. Enjoyed 10/10/18.
Pours a bright, opaque peach with a short and shortly lived frothy white cap. A few bubbles cluster around the edges but there is otherwise no retention.
Smells familiar yet distinctly sweet and tropical. The sharply sour base aroma leaves plenty of room for layers of crushed pineapple, sweet booze and oaky coconut.
This is a bracingly sour beer. Puckering stone fruit, old grain, pineapple, lemon limeade, wet wood and coconut rum. Super sour and damned tasty.
Cottony, medium feel with mellow carbonation. The fairly dry finish calls to mind pineapple rum macaroon.
Despite the many bottles of Sour in the Rye I’ve had over the years I’m still amazed at how incredibly puckering it is compared to most other wild ales. This particular iteration os one of my favorites so far with the sugary sweetness brought by the rum barrels and delightful tropical fruit additions. I would absolutely love to see this one again.

375ml bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours a golden amber color with a one-finger foamy white head that has short retention and leaves just a ring around the glass
S- fruity nose with notes of pineapple, stone fruits, acidic lemon & lime. Undertones of oak & peppery rye with a lactic tartness, just a hint of coconut closes it out
T- tropical fruity notes up front with pineapple immediately making a presence, followed by an a strong lactic tartness that brings out notes of lemon. Mid-palate gives a bit of yeast funk, as well as some oak. The finish brings out some peppery rye and lingers of sour lemon & pineapple, maybe a bit of coconut if you try to find it
M- medium-light body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a dry, puckering finish
O- the pineapple comes through nicely, one fo my favorite SitR variants
