This American sour ale was aged in oak barrels with fresh raspberries which impart a sweet-tart flavor complimenting the sour ale base. Pleasantly sour wit a crisp and refreshing taste.

A wild American ale bottle with cap. Poured into a small, stemmed tulip glass.
A beautiful looking beer. A sour cherry jolly rancher. A nice sour, but the big format bottle is just too much for me (one person) to handle. Might be too sour for some. 4.25
A – Pours like you would think, a clear cherry red with a rocky white head that dissipates quickly. The beer is a clear light burgundy in the glass. Good carbonation and good lacing. 5.0
S – Sweet aromas of lactic cherry. Candy-like. Cherry pie made with sour cherries like my grandmother. 4.75
T – Much sourer than presented in the aroma. Very sour of a lactic nature, but not as far as stomach acid (like some sours). 4.5
MF – Medium bodied with a dry finish. 4.5

Out of a bottle at Bruery Terreux in Anaheim, CA.
Definitely not gonna complain about this one. Then again, I had the same feelings about the girl I pulled last night (though I’m surely not gonna marry her). I mean, this beer is cool. It keeps your main man content. But he ain’t exactly gonna go to Tiffany’s and put a ring on it. It’s nice; light sour with pleasant raspberry flavors. But it’s just a lil too light, and it doesn’t have enough pucker like Kylie Jenner after her latest injection.
Peace!

2018 Vintage
Appearance: A reddish yellow color with a medium-sized light-red head that dissipated fairly quickly. Good looking wild ale.
Smell: Tart fruit notes, modest hay notes and very mild barnyard funk notes. The berry and hay notes have a strong presence in the nose.
Taste: Tart berries and modest grassy/hay notes from the nose show up in the taste profile. The flavor notes complement each other well and the taste ends on a very dry finish.
Mouth-feel: Body is on the lighter side of medium side with a moderate level of carbonation.
Overall: Another good Bruery Terreux sour. The different flavor elements work together resulting in a beer I ended up liking quite a bit.

A: poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep red topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light pink head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of huge raspberries and clean sourness. I almost expect to find seeds in this one with how natural and huge the fruit notes are
T: Taste is nice bright tartness with a boatload of raspberry flavor along with a touch of oak and funk. Sourness on this one is definitely fairly intense. On the swallow we get more sourness and raspberries with some lingering funk along with some nice oak and a hint of vanilla.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of body with a slightly syrupy feel until the carbonation kicks in. Carbonation is effervescent which is quite nice and the beer has a drying finish from the acidity.
O: Overall this is an awesome beer. Huge bright raspberry flavors and clean sourness make this a really pleasurable beer to drink if you can handle the sourness. Definitely worth a try if you like fruited sour beers.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/15/2018. Pours slightly hazy ruby reddish orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light pink head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge sour/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus zest, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with amazing balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak barrels, and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus zest, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; fruit/wine tang, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy red raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus zest, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, brown sugar, toasted bread, peppercorn, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak barrels, and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness and fruit/wine tang balance; with no puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness and fruit/wine tang. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.7%. Overall this is an amazing fruited sour/wild ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, oak barrels, and bready malt flavors; dangerously smooth and fairly crisp to drink for the big ABV; with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Amazing balance of super jammy raspberries and Brett/Bacteria complexity; great oak barrel presence and pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and insane style example. One of their best.

Had on tap. Taste is tart and sweet raspberry jam with some supporting lemon, cherry, sour oak, and red sangria. Appearance sells the raspberry jam in the coloring. Smell is a clone of taste. Very sour on the finish, but rest of body feels like it drops out from underneath it.

11/17/18 (Chicago): 2 oz 8.7% ABV pour at FOBAB into taster glass. Bright red pour, light white ring around the glass.Very sweet wine/grape aroma. Nicely balanced wine taste, somewhat dry, tart and sweet balance. Light dry mouth feel, carbonation holds, very light drinking. Overall very good offering!
