We sent some of our yeast-forward saison for a quick dip in the barrel with rose petals and lavender, before adding some Sour In The Rye that was barrel-aged with orange zest. The result is a tart rye saison with spice, citrus notes, warm breadiness, and a floral finish.

A: Poured into a tulip glass to a deep golden orange which is a little hazy. The beer is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger and a half of white head that fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of tons of herbal and floral notes with some hints of orange and oak
T: Taste is some nice sourness which is quickly followed with some orange zest before the lavendar and roses, There's a little bit of oak going on as well with some slight funk. On the swallow there's more orange zest and with more lavender and floral notes with some lingering tartness. At times the taste and texture of this beer reminds me of sweet tarts.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium with a slightly slick feel on the palate. Carbonation is effervescent but not quite prickly while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is an interesting beer. The flavors don't seem to play too well together and the beer seems disjointed at times. The lavendar and rose flavor comes in a little strong at times and you sometimes think that you're eating potpourri. probably my least favorite beer that I've tried in this series and one I can live without trying again.
