Foeder-Aged saison ale with orange blossom flowers and honey

Inspired by the rich agricultural history of our very own Orange County, Just A Kiss is an ode to the orange groves that once thrived in the area. This saison was fermented with orange blossom honey for six months in French oak foeders and finished with a final kiss of orange blossom flowers. Complex and easy-drinking, made for friends and food.

16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours a hazy dull orange with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention

S- aroma gives earthy bret, straw, floral notes, honey, oak & light citrus

T- light up front with notes of orange and lemon, followed by just a hint of bret funk that adds some earthy elements. Mid-palate gives some oak, as well as a hint of honey sweetness. The finish gives lemon and orange with a floral and bret linger

M- light body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a crisp semi-dry finish

Pours a large frothy foamy 2 finger head with med-lower retention, wisps of lacing, very clear light golden tan color

Nose brings plenty of farmhouse earthy funk and maybe even some Brett funk, quite earthy, with plenty of floral characters as well, orange blossom flowery character, with a little sweet honey, and orange marmalade, a bit lemony as well, some grassy notes

Taste acts like it wants to get sweet with orange honey flavor but ends up being quite dry all around, more earthy farmhouse funk with plenty of farmhouse saison characters, not quite Brett just earthy saison, a little orange marmalade and honey flavor but not a lot, hint of wheaty grassy malt character, touch of bitterness, more floral flowery characters almost chamomile like and a little lemongrass, dry but somehow mild sticky finish as I pickup a touch of flemmy acidity as well, dry bready malt and some citrus late

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, med-higher frothy carb

Overall OK, nothing special, I hoped the honey and orange blossom characters would come through more, although they are detectable so not all is lost, I do like the base farmhouse saison though

Funky and earthy nose, with a bit of dirt and cheese. Quite surprising, as I was expecting more of a sour ale, but this definitely leans toward funky saison.

Similar presentation on the palate, with very little sharpness at all. Not a ton of funk, although there is a bit up front, along with the oak. Light sweetness; very high drinkability. A very drinkable low ABV brew.
