Not your classic Ipa, the rye taste is great.

On tap at brewery:
Pours a very hazy burnt orange - pretty much amber. Dense white cap of a couple fingers eventually caves to thick rim that tapers to a thin sheet of surface bubbles.

Nose has a very nice rye spice note to it. The other notes of pear, papaya, grape leaves take a back seat, though the combination ends up with an odd banana aspect to it.

Rye, woody bitterness atop a subtle malty sweetness, floral semi-sweet white wine, that odd banana Note, then papaya with a light piney bitterness. Funny, the taste with that banana aspect - almost like I recall PB and banana sandwiches as a kid (I think the rye malt nuttiness acts as a surrogate for the peanut, as there is no exact peanut note). Pretty full yet creamy feel, even with the spice bite in the end.

This one was weird in how I perceived it, in a good way. The rye comes out and I think the Nelson presents itself admirably. The combination is weird, but intriguingly works for me. I could see it coming across as muddled, given how the notes interact. It's just weird enough to me that I'd want to split up glasses with another beer.

Cloudy darker gold color. Decent bar poured head which leaves several rings of lace.

Strong citrus, and white pepper nose. I also get tropical notes of papaya and pineapple.

The rye really makes this beer dry. The hop brings the experience to the astringent level. The body is solid with a muted carbonation level. Biting black pepper finish. Long aftertaste. For the hop lovers.

Pours a vibrant, hazy yellow-orange with a finger of white head that's quick to dissipate. A little mango, pineapple and spicy rye in the aroma. Smooth, medium-bodied, slightly creamy medium mouthfeel, with some moderate prickliness added to the mix. Lemon peel, along with the mild fruits, pepperiness and creaminess, show in the taste, largely following the nose and feel. Very enjoyable beer.

On draft. It pours a very nice amber with reasonably persistent head that gives off a lovely lacing. Great hoppy aroma and a very dank profile in upfront but also toward the end. Very smooth mouthfeel. One tasty pale ale.

From the tap at 2sp Newark - pours a cloudy amber color with light khaki foam and beautiful lacing. Taste has a wonderful bready rye flavor with sweet malt followed by hints of lime and muddled fruit. Wonderfully complex - must try! Very creamy feel.

Nice strong rye flavor to this well-executed special rye IPA -- why is a good rye so hard to find? Nice strong rye flavor to this well-executed special rye IPA -- why is a good rye so hard to find?
